German Village Engagement | Emilyjo and Matt

With its cobblestone streets, gorgeous 19th century architecture, and historic charm, German Village is well known to be one of the best engagement photography locations in Columbus, Ohio, but it’s even more ideal when it has special significance to the couple. Emilyjo and Matt first met in German Village, so for their engagement session we decided to trace the steps of their relationship.

We started our afternoon at Club 185 at the very same table where they enjoyed their first date. It was abundantly clear that they were enjoying every reminiscent moment, as I never once had to prompt them to smile or interact; I just stepped back and captured the love they have for one another.

We then explored the streets and alleyways of German Village, enjoying the gorgeous fall sunshine on our way to the site of their second date – The Book Loft. While we were unable to tour the labyrinthine rows of books due to Covid restrictions, it was fun to capture a few intimate moments on the cobblestone sidewalk out front.

To finish the evening, we drove to Whetstone Park of Roses in Clintonville, arriving just as the sun was setting.  It was here that Matt proposed to Emilyjo, and we were able to capture a few shots of them exploring the gardens before taking some stunning blue hour pictures of them under the gazebo and in front of the fountain.  It was an incredibly fun and meaningful afternoon, and I couldn’t be happier with the way the images turned out.

Emilyjo and Matt, your love for one another is radiant and evident for all to see. I am beyond excited to photograph your wedding at The Fives and to celebrate both your marriage and the coming of the 2023 new year with you!!!
